Generous lawyers and law firms contributed $105,000 to the Legal Aid Foundation in 1985 to provide civil legal aid to more needy low income people. The amount raised was a 53 percent increase over 1984, and 5 percent more than the goal for the legal community campaign of $100,000. Additionally, the Colorado Bar Foundation and the Colorado Bar Association each contributed $5,000 to the Foundation to help fund a study of the legal needs of low income people.
The Legal Aid Foundation is the private fund-raising arm of Colorado Rural Legal Services, the Legal Aid Society of Metropolitan Denver, the Northwest Colorado Legal Services Project, Pikes Peak Legal Services, and Pueblo County Legal Services. These programs provide civil legal assistance to low income people throughout Colorado.
