Thompson G. Marsh Chosen to Receive 1985 CBA Award of Merit

Thompson G. Marsh, a professor of law at the University of Denver College of Law, has been selected to receive the Colorado Bar Association's Award of Merit for 1985. Marsh received an A.B. degree from the University of Denver in 1924 and, at the suggestion of his father, decided to study law at the University of Denver College of Law. He graduated in 1927, picking up Phi Beta Kappa honors along the way. He also earned advanced degrees from Northwestern University and Yale.

Marsh joined the faculty of DU law school in 1927 and later became the first full-time professor of law. He has been associated with the school continuously since then, except for the years 1933-1934 when he was a Sterling Fellow in Law at Yale University, and from 1942-1946 when he was a regional food price attorney for the Office of Price Administration.

Marsh was honored by the University of Denver faculty in 1963 by naming him to deliver the annual University lecture---the highest honor the faculty of the University can bestow upon a colleague. He has long been noted for his knowledge of the special fields of mining law property law and future interests. His many publications include frontier work in analytical jurisprudence, which was the subject of his University address in 1963.
