CBA Judicial Poll Results

Both justices of the Colorado Supreme Court seeking retention for new terms and the five judges of the Colorado Court of Appeals seeking full terms at the 1976 election all won favorable votes in the Colorado Bar Association's poll of lawyers.

Each participating lawyer was asked the same question which voters will answer at the November election: "Shall Judge (or Justice) _____ of the _____ Court be retained in office?"


The Vote

---Supreme Court Justice Paul V. Hodges: yes 1,266; no 146.

---Supreme Court Justice Donald E. Kelley: yes 1,253; no 167.

---Judge Norman E. Berman of the Court of Appeals: yes 1,059; no 189.

---Judge Aurel M. Kelly of the Court of Appeals: yes 1,046; no 137.

---Judge Edwin G. Ruland of the Court of Appeals: yes 1,131; no 98.

---Judge Alan L. Sternberg of the Court of Appeals: yes 1,103; no 120.

---Judge Edwin P. Van Cise of the Court of Appeals: yes 1,221; no 100.

Veteran Justice Edward C. Day of the Supreme Court, whose second 10-year term would have expired near the end of this year, resigned effective Sept. 1 so results of the voting with respect to him were not reported.
