Having graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Latin prior to entering law school, I was especially interested in Mr. Brauchli's analysis of the popularization of legal practice in the September Colorado Lawyer (p. 1311).

A return to the liberal use of Latin phrases both in and out of the courtroom would prima facie seem to rid the profession of all lay competition, save that of Latin-educated individuals. Mr. Brauchli would certainly agree, however, that the Latin-educated will be the first to surrender and seek the assistance of counsel, since the legal profession has undoubtedly done more to corrupt classical Latin than Attila the Hun...
