Charles Turner, who has been serving as the coordinator of Continuing Legal Education in Colorado, Inc., has been appointed full-time director of that organization. In announcing that decision, Brian Pendleton, President of the Board of Directors, stated that Turner's excellent performance as coordinator motivated the Board to select him to fill the position. During the past year Turner has been working with his staff to improve the qualify of CLE offerings in Colorado. Assisting him has been Professor Eli Jarmel, nationally known CLE figure who has since turned to full-time teaching.

Turner has focused on two problems that hampered CLE effectiveness. One was the lack of adequate planning time for programs, which reduced the amount of attention that could be given to ensuring high quality of the written materials. To correct this, CLE has prepared a long-range schedule that will allow for adequate planning (see below). This plan is a direct result of an extensive survey of Colorado lawyers conducted by CLE last fall. Turner is confident that this emphasis on planning will be reflected in the increased quality of the written materials.

In addition CLE became aware that benefit from its programs was geographically limited because most programs were conducted in Denver. Therefore, an Advisory Board of local Bar Association representatives was formed to work with Turner and the Board of Directors. Through the expanded use of videotape and the projected scheduling of multi-location programs, CLE offerings in local areas will expand.
