At the 1972 Convention, the Association's award of merit was presented to Raphael J. Moses, Boulder, for outstanding and distinctive service to the Colorado Bar Association. Ray has been a member of the CBA since 1938, and has continuously served the Association by holding various offices, including that of president (1959-1960). He has been a member of the Water Law Section for many years, serving as chairman and member of the council. He served for 10 years on the board of governors, and has often been on the executive committee. Most recently Ray was appointed chairman of the environmental problems committee, which in 1972 published the Colorado Bar Association Environmental Handbook. In addition to his work for the Association, Ray has been trustee of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, chairman and counsel for the Colorado Water Conservation Board, and Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado.
