Cle in colorado. inc.On October 12, the Board of Directors of Continuing Legal Education hosted a luncheon for local bar presidents and their CLE representatives. The meeting, held in conjunction with the annual bar convention at the Broadmoor, was designed to establish a link between the Board of Directors and local bar associations. Seven of the ten members of the Board and representatives from over two-thirds of the local bar associations attended.

Brian Pendleton, president of the CLE Board of Directors, briefly described the history of CLE as a non-profit corporation, and Charles Turner, CLE Coordinator, gave a synopsis of past, present, and future programs. After the formal portion of the meeting Mr. Turner and Eli Jarmel, advisor to the Board, led a discussion of opinions and suggestions about the delivery of CLE programs to areas of the state not now served.

The discussion revealed that local interest in CLE programs is quite high. Many expressed support and enthusiasm regarding various programs. However, there was general agreement that locating all institutes in Denver makes attendance difficult for attorneys in other parts of the state. Of the several solutions discussed, one of the most feasible was the use of video tape equipment to record conferences in Denver for later presentation at other locations. Walter Phillips of the Mesa County Bar reported that such a taped presentation of the Domestic Relations program in Grand Junction was very well received.

Another suggestion was that programs combine live and video-taped presentations, with live portion utilizing the talents of both local and program speakers.

Perhaps the most significant product of the meeting was the realization that local bar associations should be asked to participate in the planning...
