197 complete OneSpartanburg diversity training.

Nearly 200 participants have completed diversity training through the Pipeline Project, a five-year OneSpartanburg initiative funded by the Duke Energy Foundation, to promote broader and more diverse membership on area boards to create new champions for Spartanburg County that reflect its diversity.

The initiative is a response to the OneSpartanburg community assessment, which showed that community members desired to see a more diverse group of individuals in leadership roles, according to a news release. The Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce said 197 participants completed the board diversity training.

The Pipeline Project's diversity training initiative launched in May.

"When a person is engaged in the community, they generally remain in the community. This is a part of our larger strategy to keep our best and brightest here in Spartanburg," said Allen Smith, president and CEO of the Spartanburg chamber, in the release.
