§ 13.4.2.1 Court-Appointed Counsel
Because significant rights are taken away from an adult who is adjudicated incompetent, the court is required to appoint counsel for the proposed protected person in every adult guardianship or conservatorship case, unless that person already has independent counsel. See A.R.S. § 14-5303(C) (guardianships) and A.R.S. § 14-5407(B) (conservatorships).
