12.2.2 Multiple Victims

When a defendant commits a crime against two or more victims, each victim represents a separate offense, even if the defendant's crime was the same as to each. In the leading case, the defendants were prosecuted in three trials for the murder of three individual victims. Each prosecution was for a separate offense; each homicide involved a different victim.¹⁷
