A multinational archival consortium led by Australia and New Zealand has developed a global standard set for recordkeeping software.

The National Archives of Australia (NAA) collaborated with national archive organizations in 11 countries to develop the standards. Working under the auspices of the International Council on Archives, the team launched the Principles and Functional Requirements for Records in Electronic Office Environments at the International Congress on Archives in Malaysia.

NAA Director-General Ross Gibbs said the standards are a milestone for the archives industry.
