Initial unemployment claims filed in S.C. for the week ending March 6 rose by more than a thousand from the previous week, with claims reaching 200 or more in 10 counties.

According to data from the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce, 5,146 initial claims were filed for the most recent week, an increase of 1,057 from the week before. Richland County saw a state-high 420 claims filed, while Greenville County saw 400.

Berkeley County had 357 claims, Anderson County 301, Spartanburg County 287, and Charleston County 275. Greenwood County saw 266 claims, Dorchester County 238, Horry County 217, and York County 200.

Lexington County saw 193 initial claims filed.
