Lake of the Ozarks, owned by AmerenUE, is the largest and most important of the private hydropower lakes in Missouri. Taum Sauk, also owned by AmerenUE, and Lake Taneycomo, owned by Liberty Utilities (formerly Empire District Electric Company), also fall into this class.
