1.501 Legal Fees. Rule 1.5 requires lawyers to "adequately" explain their fees. 46 Gratuitous refunds of fees to persons who have referred, or are in a position to refer, prospective clients may constitute grounds for misconduct. 47 A purchaser's attorney must not charge a legal fee to a seller without prior consent by the seller or the seller's attorney. 48 A lawyer must not share a legal fee with a non-lawyer. 49
