1.22 IRS FORM 1099-S
The buyer's (or lender's) attorney may not charge the seller for preparing and filing an IRS Form 1099-S for the transaction. 260 A settlement attorney may engage a third party to file an IRS Form 1099-S for the transaction, and the attorney's furnishing of the necessary information to the third party does not violate the attorney's duty to preserve the client's confidences and secrets. 261
