The Court has one annual term. It begins in January, extends throughout the calendar year, and consists of scheduled oral argument sessions each month, generally of two weeks’ duration, except that only motions and preferred appeals (almost always involving election cases) are heard in August. The calendar of sessions for an annual term is usually published during the preceding spring.
