ER 1.2(d) provides that a lawyer may counsel a client to make a good faith effort to determine the validity, scope, or meaning of the law. The Comment recognizes that in some circumstances a law, statute, or regulation may need to be disobeyed in order to determine its scope, validity, or meaning.
