1.13 Modification of the Policy

Modification of an insurance policy is governed by the rules applicable to contracts generally.^[179] An insurance policy can be modified by an agreement in writing or by an oral agreement.^[180] The modification must be supported by adequate consideration.^[181] The policy cannot be modified by one of the parties without the consent of the other party.^[182]

A modification of an automobile liability policy cannot be orally modified by the parties.^[183] A.R.S. Sec. 28-4010(C)^[184] provides:
