A. [§ 6.37] Invitee

An invitee is an individual on the property of another to satisfy the interests of the owner. Invitee status can be proven in two ways: by a showing of "mutual benefit" or by proof of an "implied invitation." Bass v. Hardee's Food Sys., Civil No. 98-2025, 2000 U.S. App. LEXIS 19053, at *7-8 (4th Cir. Aug. 9, 2000). A person can lose invitee status if he or she remains on the premises beyond a reasonable time after the invitation has expired, however. Id. at *8.
