§ 4.6 UNEMPLOYMENT INSURANCE

Individuals who are currently unemployed (see ORS 657.100(1)) can seek unemployment insurance benefits by filing claims through the Oregon Employment Department (< www.employment.oregon.gov >). To be eligible, the person must have been "employed for remuneration or under any contract of hire" (ORS 657.015) by any individual or organization, the state, any people's utility district, any political subdivision, or any Indian tribe (ORS 657.020(1)) in Oregon. Exceptions for certain categories of services are included in the Unemployment Insurance Law, ORS chapter 657. Exceptions include certain golf-course caddies (ORS 657.043), agricultural workers (ORS 657.045), fishers (ORS 657.053), log truck drivers (ORS 657.047), and others listed in ORS 657.043 to 657.094.
