§ 4.41 Outline of Procedural Steps and Time Limits For Criminal Appeals. After an appealable judgment or order (see § 4.4) has been entered in superior court, the following steps, in the normal order of their filing, are usually necessary to ensure that a criminal appeal will be considered on its merits. Rule 1.3 adds 5 days to all time limits initiated by service of a notice or other paper by mail. State v. Savage, 117 Ariz. 535, 536, 573 P.2d 1388, 1389 (1978).

A. Appellant files notice within 20 days after entry of judgment or order. Rule 31.3. Any cross-appeal must be filed within 20 days after service of notice of appeal. Rule 31.3(a). |
