§ 28-31 Motor Vehicles - Official Traffic-Control Devices
Section 56-5-950 of the South Carolina Code provides:
(a) The driver of any vehicle shall obey the instructions of any official traffic-control device, applicable thereto placed or held in accordance with the provisions of [the law], unless [such driver is] otherwise directed by a police officer. [This general rule is subject to an exception granted to the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle.]...
