§ 13-18 Damages - Personal Property

A property owner may recover compensation for losses which are the proximate result of the defendant's wrongful act. The owner of personal property which is injured by the negligence of another is entitled to recover the difference between the market value of the property immediately before the damage and its market value immediately after the damage. In other words, the amount of damages equals the market value just before the injury minus the market value after the injury.
