§ 1-36 Evidence of Suicide Attempt by Defendant—No Limiting Instruction

The South Carolina Supreme Court, in State v. Cartwright, 425 S.C. 81, 819 S.E.2d 756 (S.C. 2018), "conclude[d] that evidence of attempted suicide may be admitted, provided that the State establishes a clear and unmistakable nexus linking the suicide attempt to a guilty conscience derivative of the offense for which the defendant is on trial."
