A Buchanan County jury declined to award damages to an employee whose arm was severed in a machinery accident. The jury found no fault for the employee's product liability and negligence claims against the company that designed and installed the equipment.
Clyde Logan, 54, was a maintenance worker at the Triumph Foods pork processing plant in St. Joseph. The Dupps Co. designed and installed the equipment in the plant.See the full content of this document

Verdicts & Settlements December 21, 2009: No Damages Awarded to Employee Who Lost Arm
Logan tried to clear a jam caused by tramp metal in a vertical screw conveyor auger on April 3, 2006. He removed an access panel at the base of the vertical screw.
While his arm was inside the conveyer, the auger started and severed his right arm below his elbow. Consequently Logan, who is right-handed, now requires a body-powered prosthetic and a myoelectric prosthetic arm....See the full content of this document
