When the Taney County jury announced his acquittal on a child sex abuse charge, Luther Mitchell slumped in his chair, tears pooling in his eyes.
Joseph W. Allen, Mitchell's Branson defense attorney, spoke quietly to his client. "Don't look at the jury, don't thank them. Just keep looking straight forward. Despite Uphill Battle, Branson Attorney Secures Two Acquittals in Child Sex Cases
Just one week later, Allen sat beside a second client in Taney County as another jury announced its not guilty verdict. In both cases, tried in early December, the clients faced felony allegations of fondling girls. Both trials featured "he said/she said" testimony battles and no physical evidence.
