There are many ways in which thieves can either break into a company's phone system or steal calling card numbers to make unauthorized long distance calls. Some techniques to prevent misuses are to be careful when using a calling card that no one can record what is being done and that the phone is properly disconnected before leaving it. Calling cards should be reported if a wallet is stolen. Problems with voice mail should be reported immediately because they may be signs of unauthorized access and all old phone directories, fax sheets and identification codes should be shredded.
