A patient's withdrawal of consent during a procedure does not support a claim for medical battery, the South Carolina Supreme Court has ruled.

The patient was undergoing periodontal surgery and partially anesthetized when the procedure was halted by the surgeons because she was semi-conscious, moving and mumbling.
