Veterans Day was last month, but there is no bad time to acknowledge and appreciate those who have served in the military to protect our nation. According to the Census Bureau, there are more than 19,000,000 veterans in the U.S. Here are some simple suggestions on how to support vets from the Niceville, Fla.-based EOD Warrior Foundation:

* Say thank you. It is one of the easiest things to do--and it is free, although often overlooked. Moreover, use your thank you to start a conversation around their service.

* Pick up the tab. If you see veterans having breakfast in a diner or ordering a donut at the bakery, why not pick up the tab for them. This simple gesture goes a long way toward putting a smile on their face and pep in their step.

* Run or bike. There are many running, walking, and biking events around the nation each year that benefit veterans. This way, you can do something you enjoy...
