George Powell
The US 11th Circuit Court ruled that George Powell had a valid claim in suing the IRS for discrimination. The IRS had disallowed his charitable contributions to the Church of Scientology on the grounds that the contributions were quid pro quo payments. Powell claimed religious discrimination since the IRS does not disallow quid pro quo payments to other churches. The court found that Powell's suit was valid since a taxpayer can sue the IRS for inconsistent administration of tax laws.See the full content of this document
