Total quality management was popularized by the Japanese, who used it as a tool to make their automotive industry the world leader. Quality practices have been adopted by a wide range of industries and today, correctional industries are also finding it a useful tool for enhancing competitiveness. The experience of the Canadian correctional industry agency CORCAN with total quality management is presented and discussed.
