Under a little-noticed provision of the sweeping crime bill the Legislature passed on the last day of the session, police departments across the state are required to record custodial interrogations of arrested suspects.

Missouri prosecutors crafted the measure, which applies only to police interrogations of people suspected of dangerous felonies such as rape, murder and assault.
