Crisis call: phoning the hostage taker: 'body alarm in the kitchen!'.
With this announcement starts the beginning of a protracted standoff between two inmates and correctional staff. The inmates have taken the food service supervisor hostage in her office and barricaded the doors and windows. Because her office was designed to keep inmates out, it now becomes a fortress to keep responding help from entering. First responders confirm the hostage takers have knives, and their identities leave no doubt they are willing to use them on the supervisor should their demands not be met.
