National Institute of Corrections

A Canadian university group created the Developing a Curriculum (DACUM) job analysis process over 30 years ago as a fast, dependable and cost-effective method to identify job tasks for training curricula. The National Institute of Corrections started utilizing DACUM in 1989 and presently offers DACUM job profiles, technical assistance to correctional institutions, and curriculum for training DACUM facilitators. DACUM is primarily defined as the job analysis process itself and secondly, means the chart resulting from conducting the process, which displays responsibilities performed and employee traits needed for successful work performance.
