Immigration is a hot topic these days, and not just in the halls of congress. increasingly, employers are feeling the heat, as the Department of homeland security (DHS) has significantly and publicly stepped up its efforts to enforce federal immigration laws in the workplace. DHS has abandoned the old government approach of slapping employers with paltry civil fines for employing unauthorized workers; rather, workplace raids, aggressive investigations, and criminal indictments are now the order of the day.
