The US Supreme Court agreed to resolve a split in the federal circuit courts over whether courts are authorized to enforce an arbitration agreement that expands the grounds for judicial review of an award beyond those provided for in the Federal Arbitration Act. The court granted a petition for certiorari on May 29, 2007, in the case High Street Associates LLC v Mattel Inc (No. 06-989). The arbitrator found that the lessee did not violate any environmental laws, although it failed to test the well water in violation of the Oregon Clean Drinking Water Act.
