Puerto Rican trumpeter, composer/arranger/ bandleader Miguelito Miranda has compiled a brilliant musical career of more than fifty years. Many Latin music historians regard him as the best trumpet player that Puerto Rico has ever produced. Among his many achievements, one must indicate his tenure with the famous Rafael Muñoz Orchestra, during that band's peak popularity years. Miranda also performed with other renowned orchestras, such as Orquesta Siboney, and those led by Armando Castro, Oscar de la Rosa, Eliseo Grenet and Xavier Cugat. In 1942, he assumed leadership of his own band. For the next 45 years, the orchestra had long engagements in Puerto Rico at the Zombie Club, Escambrón Beach Club and the Condado Beach Hotel, in addition to his 27-year chapter as the house band of the Caribe Hilton Hotel.
