After many months of remodeling, more than 150 people celebrated First Bank's grand re-opening of its remodeled historic downtown Ketchikan branch.

First Bank's downtown building was built in 1903 by John Koel, an enterprising businessman who was active in helping establish Ketchikan's infrastructure in its early days. Koel's building on the corner of Main and Dock streets was reportedly the first reinforced concrete, fireproof commercial building in Alaska and its first tenant was the Miners & Merchants Bank.
