Police were required to warn a child pornography suspect of his Miranda rights before questioning him in conjunction with a search of his home, the 1st Circuit has ruled.

The defendant was a member of the military. His commander ordered him to return home to meet police who had obtained a search warrant after the discovery of child pornography on a used computer the defendant had sold. Police questioned the defendant for approximately 50 minutes in and outside his home. During the questioning, the defendant admitted to downloading the images.
