The design of correctional facilities often influences its effectiveness in reforming inmates. In addition, well-designed correctional facilities also reduces the risks of health problems such as stress on prison staff as well as inmates. Consequently, designers are encouraged to engage in dialogue with prison personnel to develop facilities designs which meet the needs of inmates and prison staff.
