Accounting students must develop the ability to solve complex problems that do not correspond to any specific method learned in school, and working on real-world problems while still in school is a way to develop these skills. Many college accounting departments are placing greater emphasis on spotting complex problems and developing creative solutions. Clinical programs afford the students access to these problems as well as helping them establish business contacts.
