Denver Art Museum, Denver, Colorado The largest collection of Central American artifacts were presented in Denver Art Museum's Center of Latin American Art and Archaeology, as part of Denver Art Museum's 100th anniversary. Brazil/Bolivia Gas Deal A 20-year contract called the Brazil/Bolivia Gas Deal was signed to supply Bolivian gas to southern Brazil. The deal also included the installation of 1,184 km of pipelines in Brazil and the creation of new infrastructure facilities. Total financing for the project is estimated to be over $10 billion.

The Museum of Modern Art An exhibit on the 80th year of Latin American Art entitled 'Latin American Artists of the Twentieth Century' was opened on Jun 6, 1993 at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. The show featured over 300 works of 90 artists.

New concepts in integration.

Latin and North American experts analyze liberalization initiatives in the Hemisphere Latin and North American experts met at the Organization of American States for a seminar to exchange views on the subregional integration that has been occurring in the Hemisphere. The seminar hopes to establish a firm ground for trade liberalization.

OAS bids farewell to Cantinflas.

Mario Moreno 'Cantinflas' Mexican actor and comic Mario Moreno 'Cantinflas,' known for his exceptional interpretations of the faces of humanity and his generosity, died on Apr 20, 1993 at Mexico City. The actor was bestowed with a Diploma of Honor by the Organization of American States for his valuable contributions.

Persona gratissima: Jorge Edwards, Chilean writer and ex-diplomat, talks about his experience bridging contradictory worlds.

Persona non grata is a literary piece written by ex-Diplomat Corps personnel Jorge Edwards indicting Fidel Castro and other dictatorial rulers. Although the book launched Edwards' career as a writer, it was attacked furiously by critics and publishers. Edwards is making a comeback as a short story writer.

Director Luis Bunuel The works of Spanish director Luis Bunuel left a legacy in the motion picture and art industry that tore down the walls of tradition and presented a medium for reality. Bunuel's works focused on the elements of the society he grew up in.

La Educacion magazine La Educacion was first issued in 1956 to serve as a medium to disseminate information on education and to improve the educational system of different cultures in the Americas. The magazine, which circulates in 138 countries, celebrated its 36th year with an issue on inter-American education.

The OAS Permanent Council called on all Surinamese to stop terrorism and other acts of violence in response to the sabotage of a national television station on May 10. The Council also strengthened its support for democracy and peace in the nation.

Antonio Jose de Sucre - Cover Story Antonio Jose Francisco de Sucre, President of Bolivia and tagged as Grand Marshall of Ayacucho, played a crucial role during the South American War as Simon Bolivar's soldier and ambassador. His magnificent career tragically ended when he was assassinated at age 35.

Miami City Ballet Miami City Ballet is dancing to a new tune as Jimmy Gamonet de los Heros choreographs Latin American steps for the company. Only 36, Peru-trained Gamonet de los Heros has done about 24 choreographies for the company.
